Default Draft Day Signings. Discuss the new Teams

Discuss what you think of the picks teams have made so far this offseason.

Flames
You can't fault anyone for picking up JBo. The guy is already one of the best all around D-men in the league and is still young.

You only have to wonder about the cap situation there. Thats a lot of money tied up in a few players.

Hawks
I big deal was made out of their cap situation today after signing Hossa, but I don't see them in the same situation as the Flames. Hossa for 5mil a year is an amazing deal (for now). If they can find a way to dump Campbell and sign Toews and Kane to similar long term contracts next year I think they'll be alright.

I am not sold on Huet being a Stanley Cup tender for them though.

Oilers
Heatley, Heatley, Heatley. I guess we'll see what happens tonight. Even if he does come now, things will be a bit awkward for a while. And if he doesn't, the Oilers are stuck with Cogs, Smid and Penner after they know we tried to trade them. The Oilers have been known to have pouters over the past few seasons. Having guys who we tried to trade but ended up having to hang on to isn't going to help.

Signing Habby to such a great contract is a great move though. Very good contract as long as he can stay healthy as well. Hopefully Deslaurier shows hes a capable tender in this league.

Habs Cammi could turn out to be a quality signing for them. Hes one of the top goal scorers that were available, and unlike Gabbi or Havlat, you don't have to worry about him getting injured all the time.
Gomez though? Terrible considering the contract. Probably one of the worst contracts in the league. They've lost quite a bit just to add these 2 players. I don't see them improving, and now they're hogtied with Gomez and his horrendous contract.

If anything, I see them getting worse.

What are your guys thoughts?
