I do have to give it to Garth Snow the islanders' organization on keeping their pick up in the air. Too often the first pick is decided months before the draft, but it kinda added little suspense to this year's draft. But, now Tavares is offically the face of a very damaged team and now the islanders need to get Tavares some help so he can be the savor the islanders are looking for.
I am very happy for the Isles organization and fans. They FINALLY have a franchise player the average fan recognize. Attendance and merchandising sales should go up quite a bit in Long Island.

I think you just hit the nail on the head as to why there was no hope in hell that anyone was going to get the #1 pick from the Isles.

Nah cause heatley is still a good player, its got to e somebody who uses a cloak to hide the fact he isn't a good player but alot of people talk him up anyway.
John Tavares is a great player I wouldn't even think of not picking him first, I got too watch him play several times he actually played in my hometown Oshawa on the Oshawa Generals in the OHL.
