Default NHL increases salary cap to $56.8M

Not a big increase(only $100K), but not a decrease yet. Now the GM's know what they have to spend. I thought that the Players Association would invoke their right to raise the cap this year.

A $100k you say, well that should be enough to get an extra shift out of a teams top player at some point over the course of the season.

Better than a decrease that would have put some teams in a real bind.

Yeah, still don't think you see much in long term deals. Not with a new CBA coming, and a real good chance of a decrease in the cap next season. Teams I think will be cautious.

The league was saying all aong that the majority of their business was taken care of before the real meltdown of the economy. IF there is going to be an impact to the cap for 2010-11 it will be felt in this upcoming season's ticket sales.

You ask Ovechkin if he would trade his Art Ross and Richard Trophies, to trade places with Sidney Crosby last June.
