Perhaps not. But the trophy is pretty clear to me. Best defenceman. Green is not that. I dont care how many goals you score, if you're job is to patrol the blue line and you cant do it... Not saying Green cant do it, but his talent doesnt lie there.

IF that were simply the case why hasn't Foote ever won a Norris?

Offense is just a big of a part of the game as the defensive side.

You ask Ovechkin if he would trade his Art Ross and Richard Trophies, to trade places with Sidney Crosby last June.

I am so delighted for Big Z. He had to go through really hard times as a kid. He didnt even get into the A-team of the U18 Dukla Trencin squad. He was playing in the B-team and he was noticed by a czech scout Jaromir Henys I think. It was by accident because Henys didnt even plan to see the B-team play but he stayed a little while and saw Zdeno. He took him to Prague and the rest is history. Zdeno is the hardest working guy in the league I would say and nobody can beat him in the gym. totally deserved and maybe the last chance to get it too before green will take over and start his era of dominance.

It is not just Green, there is Weber, Phaneuf, Doughty and a handfull of others who we will be seeing in the running for the Norris for the next decade or so.

yeah, I do realize that. but I feel that Green will be head and shoulders above them. those three names that you mentioned might have to settle for runners-up positions on a number of occassions. But I may be wrong. I don't have a crystal ball. We might change our mind after next season when Hedman hits the stage. I feel like every year we are blessed with amazing young talents and the game is just getting better and better

Chara was definitely deserving this year, he anchored the defense of the best regular season team in the NHL. I agree that this may be his last Norris as the competition is heavy.
