A weak economy doesn't stop a team from drafting well, and the Oilers have consistently been schooled by other teams in this area. Their drafting definitely improved after Sather left the team, but teams like New Jersey and Detroit, picking towards the end of each round, have repeatedly made superior selections.

I'm not really aware of how many other GMs have hired their best friend as head coach, and watched him go year after years with the same results.

Fine; money broke up the dynasty, but the fact remains that they didn't make sure to acquire good enough talent in return for those players, and they didn't draft well enough. The economy was one aspect of their troubles, but many Oilers fan don't wish to look further than that.

Thank you Daryl. That pretty much made my point that the Oiler record over the past 15 years or so has not been that great and much of the blame has to do with poor decision making in the areas of drafting and player development.

The last cup run was due to two players. Pronger and Roloson. Prior to the trade for Roloson the Oilers were in a turtle derby with the Canucks for the 8th spot in the west and did not get it until game 80 when the canucks completed yet another March swoon. Something the landing of Sundin will address (just to keep this on topic) I hope. However I still say the run was a fluke as Edmonton and Roloson have not built on or duplicated that success.

And Badat, if you are going to trash talk a team expect to have your teams flaws and shortcomings thrown back at you. You did not need to call Vancouver the "Casucks" or whatever.

Its funny the hilarious lies fans start to make up when a player does not want to play for their team, or if they want a player gone.

The Pronger situation at least, has been proven to be a lie. I am not sure about the Comrie situation because this is the first I have heard of it, but knowing fans track records for lying, its probably horsecrap too
The Pronger situation was proven false? By who, you? Pronger wanted to stay on the Oilers, he said that all year, then he gets caught for laying into the local news girl. Proven false? Again, wheres your source? Its well known over the town that Pronger was a dirtbag and slept around.
As far as Comrie, he was laying into Tommi Salo's wife and it pretty much ruined Salo's career. No one on the team liked Comrie after they found out he was sleeping with a teammates wife, so he had to be shipped out.

These arent as you say "hilarious lies", they're facts.
Mike Peca left, theres no secret story, he didnt want to play here. Samsanov left, and so on and so forth. One thing comes out about Pronger and all the sudden Edmontons making up stories? Thats funny, why didnt we do it for everyone else then?

Have some sort of clue what you're talking about before you run around acting like you're the end all be all of hockey knowledge please.

Ok you go with that? You're a Vancouver fan, what the hell is there for you to be gloating about? Why dont you give me the list of top 5 Vancouver moments. Serious, I'd like to hear them from you. Ill give you Edmontons top 5:
1)Cup
2)Cup
3)Cup
4)Cup
5)You get the picture.

This is a hockey forum, Im all for spirited dicussion. But for some ******* to walk in acting like the Oilers franchise is a joke, bringing up the past 15 years when hes a fan of a team who has never accomplished anything? Get real.

You have a good team this year, with arguably the best goal tender in the league, and you just picked up Mats to top it all off. You guys are on most peoples short list for the cup. Go with that. As soon as you bring up the past of another team like you have something to gloat about, you lose all credibility.

Keep trying...

Like say Tampa, Calgary, Carolina, Anaheim, Sabers, Senators, ect all played great the next season after their trip to the finals?

Again, keep trying, but your posts are laughable.

Thats right it wasn't the trade @ the end of the year that got us Roloson just before the playoffs that got us the cup run. Peter Pocklington didn't run the oilers poorly he ran everyone of his other business badly and used the oilers to try and bail them out, leaving the ownership group that had to be over 30 people to get the oilers back to a manageable team that could compete. The Oilers management wasn't just a bunch of people that could throw money away to try and win a cup, they had to manage a budget while the canadian economy was weak, and you say thats mismanagement? Take a business class my friend.

First off. Hilarious Badat. You are not even out of your teens, and there is no way you can convince anyone here you have inside information from the organization without stone cold proof.

In fact, it is against the rules to make outlandish claims you have inside information without being able to prove it.

Second.

How was it proven false? Ill give you a very easy reason why. The law. Where applies to Libel and Slander, is very straightforward.

The newspapers have a right to print whatever the hell they want, rumor or otherwise unless it is proven to be false, which means that they can be be sued for Slander/Libel. Until then, it is speculation, and within their rights to broadcast or print.

Christy Chorley had her lawyer make certain these papers and news channels were made aware that the rumor was slander/Libel, and that she would be pursuing legal action. Every single paper and newschannel, and almost every single internet website almost immediately retracted their comments and any mention of her name as a result of this. They would only do that if she were capable of making good on her threats of legal action.
Third. Her and the Child would be eligible to milk Pronger for a percentage of his yearly earnings(More than she makes in 20 years a year) if she just said "Its his", rather than flatly denying it and taking legal action against the Libelers

The End. This thread has gone on long enough. Even I am participating in the derailing of the subject because of the baiting.
