Sick of Crosby allready...
Love him or hate him, I don't know about the rest of you, but I am sick and tired of seeing Crosby on every NHL Network commercial.
I know he is good for the sport and all, but my goodness... He had better end up being one of the greatest players ever for all of the air time he gets. Personally, I think Malkin is better than he is, but he doesn't get half the love Crosby gets.
Somebody please tell me I am not the only one that feels this way.

Yeah, I'm sick of him. The league needs to market some other stars and other aspects of the game as well. Pheneuf is just as exciting, ableit in a completely different way.
I think non-North Americans might get a bit of a rub unless they really light it up like Ovechkin. I don't recall Kovelcheck ever getting much marketing hype.
There's a great story in Colorado with Statsny, but there's no hype there at all to the non NHL fan.
Patty Kane and Toews will probably get some hype, but probably nothing that gets outside of the casual NHL fan at best.
But for the most part, I"m ok with the lack of NHL love. It's a different game for a different kind of sports fan.

Like it or not the NHL wants to use him to market the NHL product. Maybe when John Tavares comes into the league some of the spotlight will go to him.
I did love the other night how Crosby looked all confident being part of the first 2 goals vs the Rangers then the Rangers coming back from 2-0 to win in OT. He sometimes gets to over confident he has to rememeber he is not the entire team.
Crosby still has a way to go to be a leader. But he is a special player. And players like him come around like 2-3 times every 25 years.

What pisses me off is that the NHL picks up the tab, it's free marketing for the Pens while the rest of the league starves.
How many times were the Montréal Canadiens in the NHL.com's Frozen moment? How many times is NHL.com's "game of the night" some south of the border crapfest and neglacts the battles fought in Alberta and Ontario?
Why is there gonna be an heritage game between Pittsburgh and Buffalo? These two teams have nearly nothing close to true Heritage. If they wanted it to market the game to the USA I think the Rangers and Red wings, or even better the Rangers and Islanders.
And Tavares is being held up to juniors in my opinion because he'll make Crosby look like nothing when he gets to the pros hence rendering the whole Crosby marketing pointless.
I'm sick and tired of having that Princess's face everywhere, maybe if he stopped faking so much on the ice it would piss me a little bit less.
Oh and dropping yourself to one knee to shoot the puck isn't the same as being pulled down to the ice then making the shot.
I'm just scared that they'll pull some marketing crap on crosby during the Winter classic to emulate Theodore's tuque during the Heritage in Edmunton.
Also hockey's a team sport and they need to start marketing it as such.
I'm tired of players playing for the name off the back of their Jersey's and seeing the crest in front as a Liability, it all started when Gretzky left for L.A. and I'm still pissed at that.

I think it's legit
It's nothing near "my team's better then yours" and no other members as been singled out.
I think it's a legit debate about whether the NHL is doing the right thing to promote that player and take on a good portion of the Pen's Marketing tab.

I agree. First, I'm not so sure that this is trash talking. I think Crosby is a great player but, I am getting tired of seeing Sidney Crosby all the time. I would like to see more commercials featuring other skilled players like Ovechkin, Simon Gagne, and Dion Phaneuf. I think the NHL is doing the right thing to promote Crosby because he is an exciting player, but he is not the only player with skill in the NHL. I have seen some other players do some things that are unreal on the ice that could share the spotlight. Also, I feel like the Pens are lucky to be getting the publicity because they are a struggling market(are they still now that they are getting the new rink?) but there are other teams that could use some help. And I would honestly love to see some of the original six teams or some more of the Canadian teams on commercials. I guess I feel happy that there is a player out there that people are excited about but, there are plenty of others in other cities that could make people want to go to a game.

Fully agree, personally I wish the NHL would turn their attention at saving the Black hawks, it's an original 6 and they don't even have a tv contract, how the NHL isn't stepping in I don't know. I feel the Pens should be able to take over now and the attention to be turned to Chicago way before we attempt to delay the inevitable demise of Nashville or Phoenix.

Ya im a bit sick of him. Everyone is treating him like he will be the next gretzky. and while he still is an amazing player I just cant see him putting up Gretzky like points. IMO I think he will probably max out in the mid-140s. Personally im more of an ovechkin fan. He may not get as many points but he plays hard and can actually hit.
