I think they will still finish 8th but jeez, getting sweeped by a team, you guys can beat ay least more then half the time, it hurts abit, but I wouldn't expect anything past the first round anyway.

I think they'll make the playoffs, and maybe even face my Sens in round 1 again. Shame they got swept by the Rangers in the season series though- teams never wanna lose to thier rivals, let alone drop all the meetings.

On the possible Ottawa/NYI playoff note, if Yashin is out then I'll take Sens in four. He's a good player (had him here in Ottawa, greedy, arrogant, etc..... but talented) so it'll hurt you a fair amount, plus us adding Bondra would only help our odds......

Yashin will definitely be back in time for the playoffs. Theyve been lucky actually. Probably would have had to rush Yashin back sooner than they would have liked had they started to really stumble after he went down. At this point though I dont think he will be back until he is actually 100%. So maybe like mid-March or so, that way he can get back into the swing of things before the playoffs (sort of like a warmup). Ottawa in the 1st round would definitely be a tough opponent. One of the few teams (besides the Devs) I wouldnt want to see in the 1st round. I think the Isles match up fairly well against any of the other teams in the conference however. Id like to see Isles/Philly or Isles/Toronto in the 1st to be honest.

Probably not.

But still, losing to the Rangers or worse, being beaten a few times in the same season by them, is not the way to go.

The good news for the Isles is they've done pretty well against almost every other team this season and they're done with NYR (and won't have to see them in the play-offs either).

I think Buffalo is fading fast now and Florida has a pretty slim chance of catching up (though Luongo has been good). I think the only real concern for NYI is where they finish in the top eight cuz they have a legitimate shot at any place 6-8.

So, I think they'll make the play-offs, but they're going to have a pretty tough oppenent in the first round.

Islanders will finish 8th at the end of the year but will only last a maximum of 5 games in the play-offs

I think it really depends on who they are playing. If its TO, its possible Isles may take them to 6 or 7. (Home teams have won all of the games this year). I think they can play Philly tough enough to scrap out a few wins, possibly the series. Ottawa or NJ, you're probably right about the 5 games.

The Isles have played pretty plain of lately, and if it continues they're in trouble.

Buffalo is surging and now only 6 points out of a spot. Maybe Yashin will help them get their act back together.
