Default Nashville reluctantly puts Henry on waivers

Nashville Predators coach Barry Trotz decided that a known quantity was better than an unknown.

That was the primary reasoning behind placing defenseman Alex Henry on waivers Wednesday afternoon. Henry cracked bone in his foot in the first preseason game at Columbus and skated on a limited basis with the team.

“Alex was cleared medically to play, and we had to get our numbers down,” Trotz said. “We just could not get a definite gauge on him. We can’t experiment a whole lot. We are going with the seven other guys. “

If the 6-6 Henry clears waivers, he would be re-assigned to the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League. He came to the Predators from the Minnesota Wild.
