Paul Kariya said he did at least think about signing a one-year contract with the Predators in order to stay with the franchise he called "one of the best in the world."

In the end, however, the ability to sign a long-term deal and know where he’d be for the next three years was what led him to sign with the St. Louis Blues late Sunday night.
