The Predators have written off the return of forward Peter Forsberg, but GM David Poile is hoping to sign winger Paul Kariya, reports the Nashville City Paper.

Poile remains in negotiations with Kariya's agent, but the paper suggests he still must convince him that the Predators are going to be a competitive team next season after trading away Kimmo Timonen, Scott Hartnell and Tomas Vokoun.

"Paul is the most important player we have to talk to this week and see if he wants to be part of the team next year or not," Poile told the City Paper.
