If elected mayor, Metro Councilman Buck Dozier said he would sit down with the Nashville Predators’ incoming owner and make a strong pitch for keeping the team here.
Predators owner Craig Leipold is selling the team to Canadian businessman Jim Balsillie. If Balsillie tried to move the franchise, Metro government could buy whatever tickets were necessary to boost the Predators’ average paid home attendance to 14,000, preventing Balsillie from terminating the team’s lease with the city.
Dozier, a candidate for mayor in the Aug. 2 election, said he hasn’t decided whether he would take that step.
