Default A Couple Equipment Questions...

What's up guys? I have recently gotten into alot of local hockey. I'm not very familiar with all the equipment and everything though. The first question i have is shin pads. Is there a common size? I see 15" alot, then i've seen 17" and bigger. Is a certain size recommended or does it depend on your height? Another thing is the socks i recently picked up have a velcro tab like thing on top. I'm wondering what this is supposed to lock onto? Pants perhaps? Again, i'm new to playing so forgive me for my silly questions Thanks.

This might be a tad late and you probably have the answers already, but here goes.

Any equipment you buy for hockey is generally sized based on your height and weight. As for the tabs on the socks, they attach to your the velcro tabs on your jock, thats if you have purchased Hockey Jock Shorts. If not your socks can be help up the old fashion way using Hockey Garter belt.

Thanks abunch for your help, i've still been waiting for answers haha. I haven't yet bought a jock but i do intend to purchase one soon. I would assume it has the velcro tabs. Thanks alot. Also, shin pad size, does that mainly just go by height or is there more to it? Its supposed to start right above your skate and cover your knee cap, correct?

Here is a link to Hockey Monkeys Size charts

http://www.hockeymonkey.com/sizingcharts.html

Personally I like to go for feel and comfort...so its best to test the pads out prior to settling for what a chart tells you.

i.e. my shinguards are smaller than what the chart says, since I dont like them that bulky.
