Andrei Kostitsyn signs a 3 year deal
Montreal re-signs RFA forward Andrei Kostitsyn to a 3 year deal worth $3.25-million a season.
TSN.ca
He basically takes the salary Michael Ryder had last year. Good to have him back as I was concerned that Kevin Lowe could have been lurking.

The more I look at this deal, the more I like it and here's why... The Anaheim Ducks resigned Corey Perry earlier today to a 5 year, $26.625 million deal broken down as $4.5 million the first year, $6.5 million the second year, $5.375 million the third year, $5.375 million the fourth and $4.875 million the last year for a cap hit of $5.325 a year.
Montreal re-signs Kostitsyn to a 3 year $9.75 million contract, cap hit of $3.25 million a year. Here's where I like this deal most:
Perry......................Kostitsyn
70..............GP..............78
29...............G................26
25...............A................27
54..............PTS.............53
12..............+/-.............15
11..............PPG.............12
4...............GWG..............5
Now does the additional two years to the contract justify the difference in the pay? Possibly, but let's just say that it sure gives us a lot more options cap-wise in the mean time!

Andrei is a really good player, don't get me wrong but he is no Corey Perry. Perry has a really well balanced game, physical defensive and offensive. he is the guy who plays botht he PK and PP.

Kostitsyn reminds me a lot of a young Kovalev. He's fast, shifty, physical and under Carbonneau, he has learned to be responsible without the puck. I also like Perry, but I have a hard time deciding which one I'd rather have to be honest. What I do know however is that Kostitsyn's salary gives the Habs more flexibility under the cap than Perry's does to Anaheim.

Wow, I think that was the best value of the day. Perry got way more, and I'd say that he's only marginally better than Kostitsyn.

I bet you everything you want that Kostitsyn is and will be the best player betwee nhim and Perry.
He's way more skilled and he's not afraid of corners.
I predict a 70 pts season for Andrei.
Top 3 Signing of the summer no doubt.

great vid JL....I too think this a great signing....he really was a sparkplug for the Habs last year....him and his brother...they both play with a real fire and passion for the game that is really refreshing....long live the Kostitsyn brothers in Montreal!!
