10/16 23:07:15 ET
Montreal, QC (Sports Network) - Jozef Stumpel beat Cristobal Huet with a backhander on Florida's third shootout chance as the Panthers stole a 2-1 victory from the Montreal Canadiens at Bell Centre.
Outplayed for 58 minutes, Florida drew a man-advantage with 2:14 remaining in the third period thanks to a slashing penalty on Montreal's Mike Komisarek. The Panthers pulled goaltender Tomas Vokoun for a two-man advantage with the empty net, but couldn't capitalize until Nathan Horton beat Huet from the left circle with just 10 seconds remaining.

Montreal lead the game from the 2:53 mark of the first period, where Alexei Kovalev scored on the PP, which gave Montreal a 1-0 lead. There was no scoring in the second period. In the third period there was no scoring until the 19:49 mark when Florida ties the game with 10.2 seconds left to send the game into OT, which resolved nothing. So onto the SO we go. Jozef Stumpel scores in the SO and gives the Florida Panthers the win.
What looked like an easy 2 point night for the Habs, turns into a 2 point night for the Panthers.
