Default Has everyone gone crazy?

I have been doing some reading and a lot of people are all upset that Price is getting his first start against the pens. The reason is the pens are one of the best offensive team in the league and will hurt his confidence if he has a poor performance. They act like his if he looses his confidence in one game he will be a bust. If confidence is so important wouldn't the coach having enough confidence to start you against one of the top teams actually boost your confidence? I think no matter what the habs do there will be people that complain saying Guy is making a mistake.

I don't know if it'll hurt his confidence much, but I don't see the reason behind throwing Price to the wolves. I mean, of all teams to start his career off against, why choose the offencive overload that is the Pittsburgh Penguins? Perhaps others (like myself) view it as odd.

On the other hand, if he can pull off a victory, that would be huge for him and the Canadiens.

High risk, high reward in some way I guess.

In a way i see why everyone thought he shouldn't start against the pens but i think it was a good risk. If he plays well and gets the win (which he did) his confidence is even higher. If he would have lost and didn't play well than at least he would have got beat by a very good team. If he starts against a weak team and looses than his conficence would be at an all time low compared to the pens. It doesn't matter now because he played and played very well. Hopefully it is a sign that he is on his way to winning the starting job.

Is it just me or is the top two lines playing really well? Koivu higgins and ryder are creating oppertunities and Kovalev seems like he wants to play

I guess there's the reward. Price did an awesome job not getting lit up, and the 1st goal wasn't his fault at all. I think it could have been called goalie interference. He couldn't even move.

Price had a great game and that win definetly boosted his confidence way up. He made a few saves that were great saves that he probably wasnt expected to save. I though he played a great game

Montreal media is the worst in North America for hockey, they will get mad at a player for 1 poor performance and celebrate like we won the cup for 1 grea tperformance

Alot of fans are just as bad as the media. One thing i was happy to see is the fans actually cheered Brisebois. I am sure he will play much better when he doesn't have to worry about the whole arena booing him every time he touched the puck.

I sometimes wonder if some folks that cover the Habs (and Leafs) are not bipolar with there extreme reactions to things. Maybe they should Lithium in the watercooler or something.

Note: I am not trying to make light of bipolarism with my post.

Although I cant' see why they wanted him back, I'll agree that not having 20,000 people booing you every time you try to do your job has to end well.

At least, I hope it does.

Back to the original topic, personally I love that we got Price and feel that eventually he'll be the heir apparent to the #1 slot and join a line of great goalies that have dawned the rouge, blanc et bleu. As for folks getting bent out of shape because they started him against a team that has talent, wasn't this the kid that was the starting goalie for the Canadian Junior team? That's not exactly a walk in the park.

At 700K a year i think Brisebois is a good pickup. I think at times people get on his case because they like him not because of his play. He does have turnovers but so does everyone else.

As for price he also won the calder cup. Even though i like Huet a lot i would like Price to get more starts because he is the future.
