Granted, I'm not coaching in the NHL, or at any level for that matter... But can someone explain to me the reason to start Theo tonight and Garon tomorrow in Washington?
Have the Pens become a better team than the Caps? It seems to me that you put your #1 goalie against the better teams, right? Robert Lang was name the offensive player of the week, and Jagr has been playing better of late. And they have Kolzig in net and Gonchar on defence... Should Theo have the challenge to stop these guys? Who does Pittsburgh have?
Not to take anything away from Garon, who's played great against some very good teams this year (2-1 win over Detroit), wouldn't your #2 guy be more fitted for the Pens?
One more point... How many of you noticed Saku Koivu's play the last couple of weeks? I was one who wanted Koivu out of Montreal, but did anybody notice when exactly his play improved? I did. As soon as the rumour Koivu-Rivet to NY Islanders for Peca-Hamrlik came out, that's when. It may be coincidental, but the timing was dead on! Maybe, just maybe Saku decided that Montreal is a better place than Long Island to play hockey...
