MONTREAL -- Canadiens GM Bob Gainey announced Friday that forward Benoit Gratton had been recalled from the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League.

Gratton, who will turn 27 on Dec. 28, is currently second in the AHL in scoring with 34 points in 25 games (13 goals and 21 assists). He has a plus-7 rating, fourth-best on the Bulldogs.

Gratton has played in 54 career NHL games with Washington, Calgary and Montreal, collecting 15 points by way of six goals and nine assists. This is his second stint with the Canadiens; in eight games with the club in 2001-2002, he registered a single goal.

I have been hoping for this for weeks!!! I have to say I love the direction this team is going in. Gratton is up mainly to replace Begin who is out 3 months after shoulder surgery. Gratton is going to be in the lineup on Sat.
