Default What is it the Habs need?

Obviously the Habs are in rebuilding mode. It seems the last few years, they have been trying to decide to rebuild, or contend. Now, with Gainey, they have decided.

So, what do they need..in your opinion to construct a winning team? ock:

Depth on Offense, two solid top-4 defensemen.

i agree with depth on offense, but they need more size up front also. koivu is their franchise player, maybe they need someone who isnt so injury prone to lead the team.

Agreed..they need a solid proven defenseman. With Souray back things look better. Also, Markov does a good job. Quintal isn't that bad either.

But guys like Brisebois, Rivet, Dykuis..I mean..come on..The team NEEDS a solid defenseman. I say trade for one, and also try your youth.

Also, offense isn't bad. They have a good 1st line..but lack anything else but checking line players. The Habs have always sought a power forward type player..but haven't aquired, or produced one yet.

I guess with Gainey now, its ok to start the rebuilding phase once again. But we heard the samething under Savard and nothing happened. Players like Ribeiro and Ward have been there for a few seasons and its time to start cracking the line-up every game, not in spades like they have been doing.
The Habs I fine also lack direction behind the bench. Julien looked alright, but I didn't see the players get behind him. I wonder how long he'll survive under Gainey's thumb. This is a big season for the Habs!!!

I'd take that bet. I can't see them passing Ottawa, so they are 4th right there. They most likely will not be better then the Devils, Flyers, Leafs, so that drops them to at least 6th because of the division ranking rule. But things change season to season!!!

Yeah, hire Larry Robinson..or Ted Nolan..

But, the way The Habs look as of today..it does not look good for this year.
