Untill the habs get some size up front their small forwards will continue to get pushed off the puck to easilly and therefore will continue to struggle offensively this year which will have them on the outside looking in once again come playoff time.I don't think Theodore even if he bounces back this year will be enough to get the current habs team to the post season.
What they need to do, is get some size like FF2 said, but some more experince on this team could do a world of good. Theo cant do everything himself they need to get some solid D infront of him, and they also need consistant scoring from more sources. They might have an outside chance at making the playoffs this season, but the chances aren't that great.

If Montreal wants to make the playoffs, Gainey and Savard have to suit up. And maybe they can convince Lafleur and Roy to come out of retirement.
The Canadiens are rebuilding; even if they make it into the playoffs, I don't expect them to go past the first round. They are several years and several key players away from compete for the big prize.

Heres why i dont think the habs wont make the playoffs, though im sure most will disagree. i just think there are 8 teams better than the habs in the east...at least 8.
Rangers
Islanders
Toronto
Senators
Bruins
Philly
New Jersey
Washington
Tampa Bay
i dont think that the habs are that much better, if at all, than the Canes (improved D) Sabres and Thrashers.
They have a lot of young talent, and will be good in perhaps a few years..Bur for now, they must rebuild.
Perhaps bring in a veteran who can provide leadership for the young players. BUT, play the young players..give them all the ice time.
I think after the CBA, the Habs are going to be one of the surprises. Great goaltending in Garon, and Theodore..solid defense in the young guys, and good forwards. But like I said..not now..in a few years.
Atleast Montreal has youthful depth, unlike Toronto which is totally in a mess after the CBA
you couldnt be more wrong, sir. After the end of this year toronto only has about 5 players locked down. Sundin, Tucker, Belak, Nolan and Mogliny. Nobody really locked down on D after this year either. But, they do have all their young defenseman locked down for at leats 2 more yrs after this one. do some research before you drag toronto into this. Montreal, imo, doesnt have all that much more prospects than handfull of teams in the east. and im not including toronto in this. sabres have promising youth, as do the thrashers and panthers. Carolina and TBay do also.
