MONTREAL (CP) - Julien BriseBois has been named general manager of the AHL champion Hamilton Bulldogs while coach Don Lever and assistant coach Ron Wilson were given new multi-year contracts, the Montreal Canadiens announced Thursday.
BriseBois replaces Canadiens GM Bob Gainey, who managed both the NHL and AHL clubs last season. The GM job in Hamilton is traditionally held by the assistant GM of the Canadiens.
BriseBois, a 30-year-old lawyer who also holds an MBA, is the AHL's youngest GM. He joined the Canadiens in 2001 as director of legal affairs and was promoted to vice-president of hockey operations in 2006, handling mainly contract negotiations and matters related to the collective bargaining agreement with the players.
