The person who set the history record for having his name the most times on the Stanley Cup (10 times as a player and 7 as management) was an ex - Hab, Jean Beliveau.
He got his name on the cup 17 times.....more times then anyone else in history.
In the 50's, the Rocket Richard/Doug Harvey, etc PP Habs line was so effective they eventually forced the NHL to change the rule. Previously, the player sat the full 2 mins of a penalty even if someone scored, durng which time the rocket/harvey line scored two and even 3 times. Now, the penalized player may return to the ice if a goal is scored against their team.
Jacques "The Snake" Plante was a Habs goalie. He was the very first NHL goalie in history to begin wearing a goalie face mask in the seasons on a regular basis (even though the management didn't want him to wear it)
On January 3, 2001, vs. the Islanders, Canadiens goalie Jose Theodore became the second goaltender in NHL history to record a shutout and score a goal in the same game.
