Exactly. As probably the only other NASCAR fan around here, I have to back you up on this.
People make it sound as if all they do is drive around in circles all day, and that anybody can do it. I don't think they realize how thin the line between having control of your car and crashing really is. Take this weekend for instance. Two of the best drivers in NASCAR, Tony Stewart and Jimmie Johnson, both ended up losing control of their cars without being touched and caused wrecks. Add the strategy part of it (drafting, pitting, etc.), and there really is more to the sport than just driving around in circles.
Sunday was one of the most exciting finishes I've ever watched. You had Kevin Harvick coming seemingly out of nowhere to win the race by .02 seconds over Mark Martin, who hasn't ever won the Daytona 500, while everybody behind them was wrecking. You had one guy cross the finish line on his roof, and end up on fire. It was just exciting to watch, although I was a bit mad that Stewart lost control of his car and wrecked with 47 laps to go. I think he would have finally had his Daytona 500 win if he hadn't wrecked.
