The Fayetteville FireAntz of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) announced yesterday that the club has re-signed Head Coach Tommy Stewart. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Stewart will be entering his third season behind the bench for the FireAntz. In his first year with the club, Stewart guided the club to the President's Cup Semi-Finals. Last season, he improved on that as the team made it to the Finals, losing in Game 7 to the defending Cup champions, the Knoxville Ice Bears.
In two seasons with the FireAntz Stewart has led the team to a 55-44-13 record. Additionally, Stewart expects to have up to 10 returning players from last year's club come back for the 2009-10 SPHL season.
"I am thrilled to be back with FireAntz for another season." Stewart added, "We expect to have our core group of guys coming back this year. We're looking to build on our success from last season."
Season tickets and corporate partnerships are still available for the 2009-10 campaign. Call the FireAntz office at (910) 321-0123 or visit the website at
