Default Phantoms Open Final 2008-2009 Homestand with Game Three

The Mahoning Valley Phantoms will close out their Chevrolet Centre schedule for the '08-'09 campaign on Thursday and Friday nights as they host Games Three and Four of the North Division Finals against the U.S. National Team with a trip to the 2009 Robertson Cup Tournament on the line.

Following a two-game split last weekend in Ann Arbor, the series is tied at one game a side heading into the final weekend of hockey prior to the national tournament in Mason City, IA.

Phantom forward Johnny Meo leads all scorers through two games with four points on one goal and three assists. The captain has eight total playoff points so far (3-5-8), tying him for fifth league-wide with Michael Juola of Fairbanks.

Mahoning Valley's Josh Bussell and Nationals players Austin Czarnik and Justin Faulk are all tied for the series lead in goals with two.

Team USA is led in playoff scoring by Emerson Etem's three goals and four assists; Etem had three assists through the first two divisional final games.

In net, Jordan Tibbett has stopped 75 of 81 USA shots for Mahoning Valley-including a 47-save performance in the series opener-sporting a 3.00 GAA and a .926 SV% in the North Finals.

On the Team USA side, Brandon Maxwell has stopped 59 of 66 Phantom shots while posting a 3.50 GAA and a .894 SV%.

Game Three gets underway Thursday at the Chevrolet Centre at 7:15 PM. All tickets purchased at the door will be $8.50.

Game Four will also have a 7:15 PM puck drop with all tickets on sale for $8.50 at the Centre. Both nights the Phantoms will be giving away team memorabilia to all fans through the door as part of their "Playoff Fan Appreciation Week."

Should Game Five be necessary, it will be Saturday at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube at 7:00 PM to decide which top-finisher will represent the North Division in Mason City.

All Phantoms postseason games will be broadcast locally on ESPN Radio 1240, WBBW-AM, and worldwide at MVPPhantoms.com via B2 Networks. The pregame show each night will start 15 minutes before the opening faceoff.

All Phantoms merchandise is on sale for 40% off at the Phantoms Team Shop at both the Chevrolet Centre and the Ice Zone while the Phantoms are in the playoffs. Call (330) 965-7500 for more information.
