The King of Racing Visits the Snake Pit

COLUMBUS, Ga. - The Columbus Cottonmouths will host the first ever "Columbus Cottonmouths Racin' Weekend" on January 26th and 27th, 2007. The weekend will be full of hockey action, race cars, incredible giveaways, a special jersey auction and more fun than any race fan, or Cottonmouths fan, could ever dream of. The highlight of the weekend will be on Saturday, January 27th when the King of Racing himself, Richard Petty, visits the Snake Pit.

Fans of all ages will be able to meet "The King" through an exclusive Meet & Greet session. Tickets to the Richard Petty Meet & Greet at the Snake Pit will be available at the Columbus Cottonmouths front office for only $100. A portion of the proceeds from this "Columbus Cottonmouths Racin' Weekend" will go to benefit the Victory Junction Gang Camp, an organization founded for kids in honor of Adam Petty. This camp enriches the lives of children with serious illnesses or medical conditions by providing fun and exciting experiences in an environment that is conducive to each child's illness. Default Suspensions handed to Moor Brothers

Columbus, Ga. - The Southern Professional Hockey League office announced today the suspensions of Cottonmouths players Daryl and Jeff Moor for their actions in Huntsville on Dec. 9. Cottonmouths center Daryl Moor has received an eight-game suspension while his brother Jeff will sit out for five games.

The Cottonmouths are back in action this weekend at home, Dec. 15 and 16. The Cottonmouths are hosting a 'Toys for Tots' drive. Bring a new toy to the game with you and help us fill the hot tub in the front lobby, presented by Leisure Lifestyles.

Default Phillips suspended two games

HUNTSVILLE, AL - Huntsville Havoc forward Luke Phillips has been suspended two games for his actions in the win over the Columbus Cottonmouths last Saturday night.

Phillips has played in all 17 games this season and scored four goals and recorded three assists. He leads the team with 103 penalty minutes.

The Havoc will host the Knoxville Ice Bears Thursday and Friday night at 7:35. Puck drops at 7:35 each night.

Default Havoc signs Hechter, Baraniuk joins Ice Pilots

HUNTSVILLE, AL - Huntsville Havoc head coach John Gibson announced today that the team has signed forward Josh Hechter.

The 5-10 winger played for St. Anselm College (NCAA), in Manchester, NH, the past three seasons, leading the Hawks in scoring the past two. He played in 73 career games and scored 41 goals and recorded 78 assists.

He went to training camp earlier this season with the Rockford IceHogs of the UHL. He is originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba.

In other news, defenseman Jesse Baraniuk, has signed a contract with the Pensacola Ice Pilots of the ECHL. Baraniuk played in Pensacola Tuesday night and impressed the Ice Pilots enough to keep him. He had played in all 17 games for the Havoc and scored four goals and recorded nine assists.
