Keith Carney is leaving Vancouver.

The 36-year old unrestricted free agent signed a two-year, $4.2 million contract with the Minnesota Wild on Saturday.

Carney played 79 games last season and tallied two-goals and 18 assists. The stay-at-home blueliner posted a plus-minus rating of +8.

More details to follow.

Carney is practically done. He had a rough time in Vancouver. He's has a solid career, but he's too slow to play at the new pace of the league, and he's too old to play a strong 82 games.

I have been a Carney fan for years, but based on what I saw from him in a Canuck uniform he has slowed considerably, he can't play big minutes any more. Burkie knew this when he traded him and didn't make a play for him today.

i disagree. he definitely did not fit in on speedy teams like the ducks or the canucks, but this guy is such a jacques player. signing in minny was the smartest thing he could for his career. he'll do well there.

He will be a good fit in Minny. I think here he was confused by Crawford's system (or lack thereof) It made him look more like Art Carney than Keith Carney. Still think he would have worked in Vancouver if they could have signed him for a reasonable price, but honestly, not a big loss for the Canucks.

Was he even here? :haha:

Agreed with Sentinel and pavel..he just didn't fit with the confusing system

He'll be a much better fit with the Wild

And prucha..cut him some slack. Carney wasn't the reason they missed the playoffs

One give away cost the Canucks their season.??
So all other sloppy play's and mistakes through out the season had no impact on the Canucks missing the playoffs.??

It was that one play and that one play alone that cost the Canucks.??

Thanks for clearing that up.!!!:0pouce:
