Wild star Marian Gaborik isn't wasting any time getting set for an NHL locked. He among the growing number of NHL players seeking contracts to play professionally in Europe if the league locks out its players when the collective bargaining agreement expires Sept. 15.
The Pioneer-Press says Gaborik is training in Slovakia and personally negotiating a deal to join Dukla-Trencin, the same hometown team he played for during part of his holdout last year. He has talked with Dukla officials and plans to meet with them again in the coming weeks as NHL players and owners dig in for a work stoppage that is expected to be lengthy and bloody.
"We have a verbal agreement," Gaborik said Wednesday from Trencin. "No question, if there is a lockout, I'm playing. I don't want to take the whole season off."
I really like the Wild and MArian GAborik, but his weak season was just as much a weak season for the team as it was for him. He had no support so he didn't do well
