The Minnesota Wild have signed free agent defenceman Sean Hill to a one-year contract.
Hill, 37, recorded 25 points, 110 penalty minutes and a plus-6 rating in 81 games with the New York Islanders in 2006-07. The six-foot, 211-pound defenceman ranked third in the NHL in hits and sixth in blocked shots while averaging 22:32 of ice-time with the Islanders last season. Hill also appeared in four playoff games and logged 18:38 of ice time.
Duluth, Minnesota native has recorded 289 points and 976 PIM in 841 career NHL games with Montreal, Anaheim, Ottawa, Carolina, St. Louis, Florida and New York.
Hill was originally selected by the Canadiens in the eighth round (167th overall) of the 1988 NHL Entry Draft.
