Default Off Topic Alert! Blue Jays anyone?

First off, I'd like to apologise for posting a baseball thread in here, but I just wanted to share some opinions with Torontonians about a reported signing. The Big E in hockey last season....The Big Hurt in baseball this season?

Sportsnet's Baseball Insider Ken Rosenthal has learned that the Toronto Blue Jays are on the verge of signing free-agent DH Frank Thomas to a two-year contract.

10 million a year? At his age and his injury problems id say they are severly over paying. That said, I am a fan of The Big Hurt. Does this mean Wells isnt coming back and this signing is meant to replace his bat to accomodate a trade? This should be interesting! Jays could use some quality starters...

10 million a year? Are they insane?

He has been healthy what? 1/5 years now?

If that deal is true the Jays will become a last place team.

No kidding. Im a fan of his and my bias doesnt even help me see this as a good or beneficial deal. Unless he stays healthy, but how likely is that.

Can't disagree. Frank Thomas is a brutal force at the plate. But Wells is the complete package. I hope they keep both, but in order for that to happen Rogers is going to have to increase the payroll. Its reported that they indeed have increased it, but by how much is anyones guess.

I honestly want to punch Ricciardi in the face right now... Why throw 10 million at Thomas, when you could get ZITO!!!!!!!!! for that price.

Halladay
Burnett
Zito

That is a rotation to be feared even with ERAover10-Towers at the back of the rotation.

Thomas is still a force when healthy as he proved last year. However, the price tag is ridiculous.

It is a good deal. Maybe a little high for him but when healthy he is a force. With a lineup of Wells Glaus Thomas Overbay and Rios they will score a lot of runs. JP is smart enough to know the weakness and he will get anouther starter. If they can resign Lilly than they are still good. If they are healthy they still have Halladay Burnett and Cachin.

I think it is an great deal for the Jays. Thomas will fit well in the middle of that lineup.
