Default MVPs

Who is gonna be this year's MVP for the NL and AL? Once again, a Yankee, Jeter, is recieving huge publicity for it in the AL. Ortiz would be up there but he has been held out of the past couple games and has slowed down his pace since learning of his irregular heartbeat. The Bosox have also slowed their run at the division and wildcard with the problems that have occured with Ortiz. Jermaine Dye though, has quietly been putting together an MVP season and is getting to be the competition for Jeter.

The NL boasts the names of the Ryan Howard, Carlos Beltran, and Albert Pujols. Howard is leading the ML in HRs and RBIs as I post this. Pujols is behind Howard but that may only be because he was injured earlier in the year when he was on pace to break the HR and RBI record. Beltran is simply putting together the best season for the best team in the NL. Not saying that he doesn't deserve the nomination, but he does play for the league's best team that resides in NY.

If the White Sox make the playoffs, it has to be Jermaine Dye. He's proved himself to play great in the clutch on both defense and offense. He hits homeruns at key times, and a lot of them too. What's more is that he plays great defense. Some of the catches this guy has made have been unbelieveable, and he did it when it meant something.

I don't follow the NL, it's like triple A ball now. k

My guess would be:

AL MVP - Jermaine Dye, having a gold glove and MVP year unlike Ortiz who couldn't field a baseball

NL MVP - Co MVPS Albert Pujols and Ryan Howard. Pujols numbers would surpass Howard if he didn't miss almost 2 months with an injury.

AL ROY - Justin Verlander
NL ROY - Dan Uggla

AL Cy Young - Roy Halladay or Johan Santana
NL Cy Young - Chris Carpenter

AL MVP - Dye and Ortiz won't win because of how bad their teams have played. Has hard as it for me to say, it is going to be Jeter.

NL MVP - If you compare the amount of games and at-bplate apperances between Pujos and Howard, they aren't that far off. Pujos only has 63 less plate apperances. If you use that to project Pujos' numbers out he would only be at 51 homers. Not that I am saying homers are the only part of this equation but Howard's 2nd half tear, which no one in the league is near, has carried his team by itself.

AL ROY - Justin Verlander hands down because he is the only player of the big 3 not to miss a lot of time. He was shut down for a start at two points of this season but every pitcher should get that.

NL ROY - Prince Fielder. Not because he will win but because I grew up watching his Father tear up the ball. Not a great reason but what the hell. Milwaukee has great beer.

AL Cy Young - Johan Santana. I could probally make a case why he should get every first place vote little lone the award.

NL Cy Young - Chris Carpenter will probally win but I would have a tough time picking between him and Webb from Arizona.
