(Sports Network) - Don't look now, but the Los Angeles Kings are making a move to get out of the basement in the Western Conference.
The Kings have picked up points in five straight games and are 2-0-2 on their current five-game road trip, which wraps up in Carolina on Tuesday. The club opened the swing with a 7-0 shelling of Florida on February 3 before dropping a shootout loss to Tampa Bay three days later.
Los Angeles then fell to Washington in overtime before a surprising 4-1 win over Nashville on Saturday. The Kings are now 19-30-9 on the season for 47 points, which is just two points fewer than the Blue Jackets for 14th overall in the West.
The Kings have been outscored by a 203-to-163 margin so far this year, but have netted 18 goals over their last five games to just 11 by their opponents.
One player fueling the Kings' hot streak is 24-year-old Michael Cammalleri. The 5-foot-9 center has points in the last eight games he has played, posting five goals and eight assists over that span.
