Default Flames welcome Kings to town

(Sports Network) - The Calgary Flames kick off a four-game homestand this evening, when they welcome the lowly Los Angeles Kings to Pengrowth Saddledome.

The game will mark the first this season in a Flames uniform for Craig Conroy, who Calgary acquired from -- interestingly enough -- the Kings on Monday in exchange for center Jamie Lundmark and two future draft choices.

The 35-year-old Conroy has spent the past two seasons in Los Angeles and has five goals and 11 assists in 52 games. Before joining the Kings, he spent three-plus seasons in Calgary. Conroy has 145 goals and 277 assists in 739 career games and has also played in Montreal and St. Louis.

Lundmark, originally a first-round pick (ninth overall) of the New York Rangers, is in his fourth season in the NHL. In 39 games this season he has posted just four assists.

The Flames dropped a 4-3 decision to the Chicago Blackhawks in overtime on Sunday to end a three-game road trip at 1-2. Alex Tanguay registered a goal and two assists for Calgary, which has lost four of its last six games overall.

Daymond Langkow added a goal and an assist to give him a team-high 32 helpers on the season and Miikka Kiprusoff stopped 36 shots in the loss. Kristian Huselius also picked up a goal and an assist to give him six goals and seven assists over his last 13 games.

The Flames by far have been a better team at home, posting a 19-5-0 mark at the Saddledome compared to a 7-12-6 record on the road. The club is also in the thick of the hunt in the Northwest Division and trails Vancouver by just one point for the top spot.

Calgary got some good news Monday on the injury front, as forward Jarome Iginla, who is out due to a sprained MCL in left knee, skated with the team for the first time since he was injured on January 4. He had been skating on his own up to that point.
