Default Kings get the Blues in LA

(Sports Network) - The Los Angeles Kings will attempt to avoid their longest losing streak of the season tonight, when they welcome the St. Louis Blues to Staples Center.

The Kings have dropped five straight contests (0-4-1), matching the longest skid for the team since it also lost five in a row from October 22-28.

LA's most recent setback came Tuesday in Atlanta, as Marian Hossa notched his second hat trick of the season to help the Thrashers rout the Kings, 6-2.

Alexander Frolov and Tom Kostopoulos each had a goal for the Kings. Yutaka ***ufuji started in net for Los Angeles and made just six saves on nine shots before being pulled early in the second period. Barry Brust finished the game in net and made 17 saves.

***ufuji is the first Japanese-born player in NHL history.

The Kings, who are last in the Western Conference with 38 points, begin a brief two-game homestand tonight. They are 11-10-6 in the City of Angels this year.

Meanwhile, the Blues have split the first two stops on a four-game road trip and are coming off Tuesday's easy win over the sliding Anaheim Ducks. Curtis Sanford made 30 saves and six different St. Louis players scored in the 6-2 triumph.
