Default Kings slide into Phoenix

(Sports Network) - The Los Angeles Kings try to halt a four-game losing streak when the slumping club visits the Phoenix Coyotes this evening in a Pacific Division battle at Glendale Arena.

The Kings' losing ways continued last night, as Minnesota's Marian Gaborik scored the game-winning goal just 25 seconds into overtime to give the unbeaten Wild a 2-1 victory at the Staples Center.

With the Kings controlling the puck in Minnesota's zone, Gaborik created a takeaway from Sean Avery and sent a pass out to Pavol Demitra, setting up a 2- on-1 break.

Demitra skated the puck into LA's zone before sending the it off Gaborik's skate and past Dan Cloutier to extend the Wild's franchise-best winning streak to six games.

Patrick O' Sullivan scored his first NHL goal for the Kings, who have tallied just four times during their current slide. Cloutier finished with 25 saves.

Phoenix, meanwhile, will shoot for back-to-back victories for the first time this season. The Coyotes stopped a four-game losing streak of their own with a 5-2 decision at St. Louis on Tuesday.

Shane Doan and Mike Comrie each had a goal and an assist for Phoenix, which won for the first time since a season-opening 6-3 victory over the Islanders. Ladislav Nagy totaled two assists and Curtis Joseph recorded 25 saves in the triumph.
