The Los Angeles Kings continued to retain players Friday, agreeing to terms on a one-year contract with defenseman Jason Holland.
Financial terms were not disclosed, but Holland earned $475,000 while appearing in a career-high 52 games last season.
A restricted free agent, Holland collected three goals and three assists with 24 penalty minutes in 2003-04. The 28-year-old second-round pick of the New York Islanders in 1994 has four goals and five assists in 81 career games with the Isles, Buffalo and Los Angeles.
Holland becomes the fifth player re-signed by the Kings this offseason, joining goaltender Cristobal Huet, defenseman Nathan Dempsey and centers Esa Pirnes and Derek Armstrong.
When the team is healthy they are a contender and every team should be on the lookout I think they will probably be my darkhorse in the league next year and will finish very strong.
