At first they wanted no goalies from outside then they changed there minds and now they change it to the rule you see. The reason I think is because the Russian want to develop there own goalies. The Russian have not had many great goalies over the years.

Default KHL Headlines

Ak Bars Kazan re-signs star forwards Alexei Morozov and Danis Zaripov to five-year deals (Zapirov stayed on despite a "very good offer" from the Kings), and SKA St. Petersburg names Sergei Brylin team captain.

In an interview with Sovietsky-Sport, ex-Islanders goalie Wade Dubielewicz says a big difference between the KHL and the NHL is there is more traffic in front of the net and “the goalkeeper has to work more.” He was named top goalie in the recently concluded Ivan Romazana Memorial preseason tournament.
