Default Hockey Forum Files: slapshot™

Well here's everything that you wanted to know... and maybe some things you didn't about our Member of the Month for December slapshot™. Enjoy!

01) Name? Kelly (or Kel)

02) Nick names (both on and offline)? Online = slapshot™ Been using this moniker since 1996. Offline = Moses...that's what the guys on my hockey team call me as I'm the oldest on the club. The average age is around 24 and I exceed that by almost 2 decades. I can't tell you what my girlfriend calls me but I think a porn star used to go by this particular name.... k:

03) Hometown (City, Country)? Born in Edmonton and raised on a farm about 45 minutes south. Lived in Lethbridge during my University days (BFA). Moved to Whitecourt two years ago after residing in Peace River for nine years (all in the province of Alberta for those of you geographically challenged).

04) Age / Date of Birth? 41 July 19, 1962

05) Western Zodiac sign? Cancer

06) Chinese Animal year? dunno

07) Height? 6' 1"

08) Eye / Hair Color? Green eyes and blond hair.

09) Hobbies & interests? I play goal for the Whitecourt Stars (yeah, it pains me as an Oiler fan to wear the Star colours....*sigh*). It's a slapshot league with "no" contact. We play a 50 game sked plus tournaments = +/-65 games/year. I also play in Sherwood Park every Friday on my company team. Total average games per year = +/-80.

I am also an avid photographer. I work mainly in b & w. I've exhibited work at a few galleries in both juried and non-juried shows. I've done some commissioned work as well.

10) What's your favorite color? Kelly green!?!?!? I dunno...green is o.k....blue is nice...I'm not a fan of pastels. My girlfriend says I look great in black.

11) Favorite food? Bbq'ed steak (med. rare) and big ass lobster. Yeah, surf 'n' turf, I guess...

12) How did you hear about Hockey Forums, and why did you join? I, like many who are regular members here, made the exodus from SN and UFF. I googlized hockey forums and clicked on the link. Ended up lurking for a couple of months before registering. It looked like it had potential and so far has met my expectations.

13) What (in your opinion) is the best feature of Hockeyforums? Self-moderation. Unlike other forums that have no moderation or too much this one seems to be able to walk that fine line. It works because the members care about their forum (community) and police it themselves.

14) Ok then...how's about the worst feature? **please note that depending on your answer, Hockeyman may ban you** Nothing I can think of off the top of my head. Annoying....duplicate threads?

15) Who is your favorite person(s) on Hockey Forums? Without naming names...the posters that submit either hilarious, insightful, thoughtful or original posts. I enjoy reading posts that are backed up with some substance....at times.

16) The most annoying person(s)? They shall remain nameless.

17) Do you still live with your parents? No. Not since 1980.

18) Name your siblings (brothers/sisters) and their ages? Scott 44, Lee 39 and Todd 38. No sisters. Just brothers to play hockey with when we were growing up. On the pond with a sponge puck in the winter and on the lawn with a tennis ball in the summer.

19) What sort of clothes do you wear the most? Levis and t-shirts.

20) Favorite type of music? Rock, blues, jazz and classical. I also enjoy big band music.

21) Favorite band/group/singer? Roger Waters (former front-man for Pink Floyd).

22) Have you ever met or talked to anyone from the net? Names? Yes. Moondance, Cleopatra, Storm, Florida Girl to name a few (you didn't actually think I would provide RL names, now did you!?!?!?)

23) Do you have more friends online than in real life (considering you know what a real life is)? Online.

24) If you could describe yourself, your personality, in 2 words or less, what words would you choose and why? Easy-going and honest. I'm laid back for the most part and can get along with pretty much anyone. I can feel equally at ease drinking at the Cromdale or hob-nobbing it at the Citidal. I'm honest because I can't stomach liars.....or people that key other people's cars.

25) If you could be anywhere in the world right now (or perhaps not in this world) where would you be and why? Travelling and shooting photographs for my portfolio. I would love to go to NYC. Unbelievable art galleries there.

26) What do you want to do/become in the future and why? Publish a big-ass coffee table book of my photographs.

27) What's one thing in the world that makes you the happiest? Sex? I dunno....lots of things make me happy. Being alive, healthy, my girls...those are just a few of the things that make me happy.

28) What do you most desire to do in your lifetime? Be remembered and not forgotten.

29) If you could have any one thing in life, right now, material or non-material, what would it be? Right now? A beer. No, make that new goal equipment. No, make that world peace. No, a ham and cheese sandwich.

30) Have you ever been in love, or had a crush on someone? If so, who? Yes. I've been in love many times. It's true what they say....it's better to love and lost than to never have been in love at all. Oh yeah...you never forget your first...that one is soooo true, too (sorry, no names).

31) What was the worst/most sad moment in your life? When my girls went to go live with their mother. I had been a single parent for 11 years. When they were 12 and 14 years old they moved in with their mother. Even though it was two years ago I still struggle with it today.

32) How do you think that others view/think of you? Hmmm...Cooly's looking-glass self.....friendly?

33) What would you think of a Hockey Forums get-together (you know, as many members as we can get to all meet in one place)? Great idea!

34) Where do you see yourself 5 years from now? Older...but still not as quite as old as Rusty. No idea. I have a Magic 8-ball but no crystal ball.

35) Anything else you want to say or add? Yes. I wish people would learn to distinguish the difference between....

they're, their and there
to, two and too
were and where
then and than
(I'm sure there are a host of others) k:

I also can't believe how long it takes to fill out this damn questionaire. When do I get approval for my loan?

Since you have probably lost sleep over past year not knowing what your Chinese Animal Year is, I did a little search for you.

1962 is the Year of Tiger.

Chinese New Year[/url]]Tigers are said to be bold and adventurous, and are bestowed with initiative and charm. However, they have a tendency to be risk takers, making them act before they think about the consequences. They tend to make good bosses, explorers or racing drivers.
That actually sounds like you. k:
