And in the wake of this collapse, Westjet's stock jumped 40% in one day, while Air Canada's parent gained nearly 15%.

I always go through a travel agent.
They provide a service, they are legitimate and contributing members of our business community, and they have been squeezed to death by the airline industry in general.
Booking a discount fare through a travel agent costs very little extra.
AND...their association insures you.
People booking online to save the last possible nickel....get burned.
The Jetsgo incident is very much in the news....but there are people being "burned" every day booking their own online "deals" for travel and accomodation...ie : no cab or bus connections, bad resorts, crappy meals, none of the amenities they were promised...it goes on and on.
Caveat Emptor.

I was talking of the phone with my sister (who's an RCMP member) last night and she said that many RCMP members were stranded in Edmonton after the funeral of the 4 members who died in that shootout because they flew Jetsgo. My sister and another member from the same detachment flew WestJet, luckly....

My parents' West Jet shares are quite beneficial at the moment.
By the way, my mother's brother is a pilot for West Jet, based out of Calgary.

Would is also acceptable in proper English. Too much pulp in Kamloops?
What was the topic again? $@#
Oh yeah! I booked some tickets to fly the family down to Sherbrooke in July and went with a special they had on WestJet. The next day, there was a better deal with Jetsgo. At the time, I was pretty upset with myself but looking back, I did the right thing!

hey this may explain why travel agents get squeezed to death by the airline industry..
fare on greyhound 14 day advance toronto-vancouver =214.00 cad
fare on aircanada 14 day advance toronto-vancouver 234.00 cad
this right here is why the airline industry is screwed..this one if for the US folks.
greyhound 7 day one way fare new york city-los angeles =109.00
jetblue 14day advance one way new york city-LA =99.00
its takes 2d 19h on greyhound... 5 hours via flight.. and its cheaper
so you see the airlines are squeezed to death because there are to many airlines fighting for passengers and having to drop fares so low that they can hardly stay afloat.. so its not just travel agents the airline employees feel the squeez to ..and from my experience if something goes wrong with a travel agent we "the airline" are the first they run to..
