Default Habs sign Cammalleri, Gionta and trade Higgins trade for Gomez

Gomez: 7 million 5'11
Cammalleri: 6 million 5'9
Gionta: 5 million 5'7

Lots of skill, but the Habs forward corps is seriously lacking in toughness. I would look to see them trade for some size up front.

Saku's too small and then they sign two players who are smaller and trade for one that's marginally bigger.

That line is going to be eaten alive in the Northeast by Burke's Leafs and the Bruins.

Fahqall - that's what I thought too. Why is Montreal - who got beat up near the last 1/4 of the season, and in their first round exit with Boston, go out and get MORE tiny forwards. Tiny Forwards, Mr Gainey isn't helping you out any.

And now that Burke made the Leafs into a team that kind of rivals the team in the later 90s/00's [in terms of Toughness and Smackability and you know, Height] and like you mentioned the Bruins....Montreal is going to be sending memos to those two teams "well just send you the two points, right?"

They did pick up Hal Gill, and they have George L, so they aren't barren of toughness, but they could use a lot more. If they could of landed Brashear or Orr they would have been better off.

How are Hal Gill and Laraques going to help the Canadiens forwards break through the tough checking forwards and the defense of those teams to score goals?

Yeah, Gill and Laraques will help in fights, but the issue was that Saku was "too small" to play with the big boys, Tanguay was "too soft" and Kovalev, while he could play, simply decided to not put in an effort at times. Their key offensive players just couldn't really compete and Gill and Laraques don't help that.

Really, it's a lateral roster move for more money.

Gil is not going to add at all to the toughness of a team. He's a solid, albiet slow, defenseman who is great at clearing players from the front of the crease. He will not contribute offensively because he does not have the speed to pinch and get back. And he's not a rough and tumble defensive player who drops the gloves, or takes the body hard.

Tanguay & Mike Cammalleri are not the same players without Iginla, if you bother check these two guys best years are with Calgary.

Tanguays best years were with Sakic.

The habs ripped off the Rags for Gomez, Higgins is a lemon.

LOL.

Their best years in Calgary while playing with Iginla are by like 2 or 3 points. That means you can't claim they aren't the same player without Iginla, since if Iginla really did make them better than they are, their years would be 15 - 20 points higher than anywhere else.

A differential of two or three points doesn't mean they had their best season in Calgary and won't be anything similar elsewhere.

I'd take 2000-01 Tanguay over the Tanguay that showed up in Calgary any day of the week.
