Hockey Trades, Rumors & SigningsThe NHL always has a very active trading rumor-mill. Who is the next player to be shipped out? And who will be the next big free agent signing? Discuss NHL trade rumors and free agents.
We'll have to see what happens here, there is some confusion over when this had to be done by the Sen's and all. But if he refuses to waive his no trade clause just because its Edmonton, that's a little classless. You asked to be traded, you shouldn't be allowed to choose your team, it should be up to your current team to get the best value for you.

Should be if a player who has a no trade clause asks to be moved, he gives up the right to waive any deal.
To first handcuff a team by demanding a trade, and then to kick them in the nuts by using your no trade clause to pick and choose where they send you, is just wrong.

You ask Ovechkin if he would trade his Art Ross and Richard Trophies, to trade places with Sidney Crosby last June.
Daryll: What I meant was, is that no I wouldn't trade him at all. Or if I had to because of what you mentioned I would tell him that I would trade him on MY time, and if he wanted to be traded so badly, he would play his guts out and make it worth MY while to get the best return for HIM.
HE wanted the NTC [which is the second most annoying thing in contracts that irritate the heck out of me, only after the NMC which makes NO flaming sense what so ever.
I think it's really pathetic to negotiate a contract that really benefits you, including that stupid NTC, and then turn around after what? a year and go, "You know, I really hate it here, I want out," I don't know why he's not happy - and I'm sorry he's not happy, but to leak it out to the media? [because I really doubt anyone from the Sens Camp leaked it out that Dany wants out]. There'll probably be more teams interested after ottawa pays the 4 million dollars.. Charlio is right. The minute you asked to be move, you lose the right to waive deals. you can not have your cake and eat it to. That clause should only apply if the TEAM needs to utalise it. [which is why if i were running a team, ANY NTC/NMC would have that caveat in there, and I have no idea why they aren't].
But I heard that it's mostly beacause of the media scrutinty why he wants out [after the coaching problems he had with the Sens coach]. I'm sorry to break it to you then stay away from Canada. Edmonton may not be as bad as Ottawa's or Toronto's but it's a Canadian team and they had a baaaaaad season last year. Go to Columbus. Hide there.

According to reports, Heatley gave Murray a list of teams he would go to and Edmonton was not one of them. Sun Media reported the Rangers, Sharks, Boston, Vancouver, Los Angeles, Detroit, Calgary and Chicago were on the list.

The reports that I read stated that Heatley's agent confirmed that Edmonton IS on his list of approved cities.

Oh, I know that was exactly what you meant. What I'm saying is that it just does not work well. For the good of the Senators locker room, you can`t have Heatley walk in with everybody knowing he doesn`t want to be there, ESPECIALLY after a trade that could have gone through didn`t.
In the old days, when the players were bags of meat who were treated any way the owners felt like, that kind of thing happened. Not now.

I agree; it is very frustrating.

The scrutiny in Edmonton is bad... Very bad. There's no other game in town.
Rangers: isn't John Tortorolla the coach on this team? *dies laughing*
Detroit: ummm. perennial champions or mega contenders....you think the media is tough in Ottawa, what the heck do you think Detroits is going to be? and their coach is tough bananas too.
Calgary/Vancouver. Canadian hockey media again.
I think the only team that I think may be okay - maybe the Sharks? MAYBE Boston? [but Hockey is really important to Boston)....
so it makes me wonder if it's really the "media" that's irking him, and more of the coach stuation. and considering that Healey refused to go see a mediator with the Sens Coach.... Healey is a big fat whiney baby.

I've sat back and let you get away with a few lately, but how about behaving with a modicum of class, and remember that you're a moderator here?
a) Edmonton is on his list of approved cities.
b) He hasn't killed the deal.
c) Think before you put your brain in "must trash Edmonton" gear.
Good God, how people can actually take the time to get into "my Dad's stronger than your Dad", "My school's better than your school", and "your city sucks" mud slinging is beyond me.

Sometimes I just can't help myself.
It's really weird how all of a sudden GMs aren't keeping trades quiet untill they are official and because of it they mess it up. I have a feeling Brian Murray is a lot more to blame than Edmonton or Heatley.
One thing is for sure; Heatley will be traded, I don't think it would go over well with the other sens if he walked into training camp.
If the trade is actually dead Edmontons UFA woes continues. The thing I can't understand is why wasn't an offer made to resign Kotalik? He really was a good fit and was an effective player. Oilers management priorities really don't make sence. Sure Heatleys a great player but it looks like right now that he went on a wild goose chase and came back with nothing.
