Thats the point Sundin may say he wants to win a cup but its obvious by his actions that he doesn't. Last year he was spouting how it was important to him to be with his team-mates for the entire season and didn't believe in the rent-a-player but thats exactly what he's turning himself into and his actions directly counter his words.

I really don't follow the news on the Leafs or the Sundin, so if I sound like an ignorant fool, well, I am.

But how likely / possible is it that Sundin is simply pulling a Niedermayer and will start playing around the All Star game to get tuned up the Maple Leaf's cup run? That is, if the Laffs can even make the playoffs as they're currently constituted.

Thing is, if Toronto can keep it close through January to that 11 spot in the East, perhaps the infusion of the Nordic Captain is enough to sneak them into that 8th or 7th spot where anything can happen, right Botson?

It might happen, but I doubt it. It seems to me like Leafs management wants to rebuild right now, and if Mats wanted to re-sign with them he would have had to have made up his mind earlier in the summer.

Since the Niedermayer and Selanne incident, Bettman has put in a rule where a player has to decide to play within a certain period of time (has to have a NHL contract). So Sundin cant enter around Christmas or even later.

The deadline for players to sign is the trade deadline in Feb.

QFT! In my eyes and in the eyes many others, fans of other teams, Sundin is loosing a lot of respect from fans for this very reason. He's looking more and more like a plain liar!

From Eklund, for what it's worth...
This is all very fresh this morning, but I am being told that an announcement may be coming "prior to the drop of the puck on Thursday" from Mats Sundin. My source has informed me that Mats may have indeed made a decision on his future and could be "trying to not upstage the NHL season opening."

Hey Eklund, the season opener was this past weekend!

Well i guess little matts is feeling a little left out so he's decided to grab the spot light again by talking about returning to the nhl.

He can go to Vancouver or Toronto. We've moved on... and quite nicely I might add.
