Bob Gainey wants to ensure that Sundin is thinking about the Canadiens. According to our colleague Renaud Lavoie, Canadiens' GM Bob Gainey had a discussion yesterday with Mats Sundin's agent, JP Barry.
Gainey wanted to ensure that the Sundin clan knew that the Canadiens still wish to secure his services.
Bob Gainey has left a lot of space for the Swedish player to think about his future, but felt that the moment had come to get back in touch with his agent.
Mats Sundin should decide on Friday whether or not he'll play hockey next season. He should decide a few days later where he will be playing. If he returns, he will resume his on-ice training next week in Sweden.

Not from a reliable source, but a source none the less...
A source had told me that the "Mats Domino" looks more and more to be falling to the East...as I have heard, the Canadiens and the Rangers are the finalists (...so the dog....he was right?)
Now considering that the Rangers are already over the cap (around $58 million with cap bonus), they'd have to move some salary. This wouldn't surprise me although their top two centermen (Drury and Gomez) would be very tough to move considering their inflated salaries. It would, however, explain the delays in Sundin making a decision...
