The Chicago Blackhawks continue their search for a veteran offensive-minded defenseman and could have a deal in place by Monday.
The Blackhawks are supposedly pursuing several options, with the likes of Colorado's John-Michael Liles, Toronto's Bryan McCabe [presently injured] and Pavel Kubina, Tampa Bay's Dan Boyle [currently still inactive], and Anaheim's Francois Beauchemin leading the list of potential targets.
It is believed the Blackhawks are willing to move young blueliner Cam Barker and forward Tuomo Ruutu in exchange for a veteran rearguard.
Blackhawks GM Dale Tallon acknowledged earlier this week that he is actively involved in various discussions in an attempt to upgrade his roster.
"There's a strong possibility there will be a trade shortly," Tallon told the Chicago Tribune earlier this week. "We're looking to get more of a veteran on the back end to help our kids and somebody who fits into our plans."
