Not sure if any Aussies have ever skated in the NHL. There have been players from Scotland (Steve Smith) England (Steve Thomas) and Ireland(Owen Nolan), but have not been able to track anyone who is from Australia.

yes, Nolan was born in Ireland, believe it was Belfast, but came to Canada as a baby. On this topic, it is actually ver surprising there have not been any Aussies in the league. I have heard they actually have a very good hockey program in Australia, it is hard to believe we have had a Japanese player suit up in the league before someone from Australia. I guess the closest we will get to an Aussie playing hockey is Russell Crowe in Mystery Alaska.

There is lots of weird birth places, South Africa Brazil Korea. I don't think there has ever been a Ireland Scottland or England trained hockey player most people from places like that are north american trained players.
