For anyone who's a fan of the game an arguement could be made for any and all of the original arena's.:0pouce:

The gardens in Boston imho was about as good as it got back in the day. The fans there seemed to be right on top of the action, and the smaller ice surface didn't hurt the atmosphere with all the extra hard hitting it provided. The fans in Boston also added to the gardens appeal with their loud and rowdy type ways.

Like i already said an arguement could be made for any of these old rich in history arena's.

Maybe its because of my rangers heritage, but I'd have to say the garden.

I dont know if you know this but the current madison square garden was not the original. it opened in 1968. the MSG that alot of oldtimmers recall is the MSG 3 that was located on 8th ave and 49th and 50th street. that was the only original 6 arena that i did not see because it was torn down in 1968.

Default original 6 arenas

Besides the rich history that went with the original 6 arenas a fan was alot more closer to the action because of the balconys that hung over the ice. granted to have that view back then you had to have posts to support the balcony.i recall going to games at olympia stadium, chicago stadium and boston garden and a few times i had to sit around posts.today i would gladly sit behind one of those posts to once again see hockey at olympia stadium, boston garden and chicago stadium. even though i did not see madison square garden 3 in person i have looked at seating diagrams from there and it also had posts and obstructed view seats. i saw 2 games at the montreal forum and it was a great thrill to go to the place.it was so well kept and clean it was amazing.i can still hear roger ducet singing the canadian national anthem at the forum. the first NHL game i saw was a game with chicago and toronto back in the 1960,s at maple leaf gardens. for years i would watch hockey night in canada every saturday nite with the leafs and montreal playing at maple leaf gardens and the montreal forum it is not the same today. here is my top list, and the only reason i list MSG 3 last is because i never saw it. lets hope that one day hockey night in canada will show a game from that classic original 6 arena.i do know that HNIC does have at least one playoff game from MSG 3.

1) olympia stadium
2)chicago stadium
3)boston garden
4)montreal forum
5)maple leaf gardens
6)madison sq garden 3

also i would like to mention even though they are not a original 6 arena the old STL arena, winnipeg arena i went to those two 1 time and they were both great. one place i wanted to go to but did not was the AUD in buffalo.

Default Msg 4

I see that 2 people have voted for MSG 4 as the best original 6 arena. again it is not classified as a original 6 arena. the original 6 MSG was the third one located on 8th ave and 49th and 50th streets. i saw one game there in 1991 and was not impressed with it. i am repeating this for the younger fans that may not know this.

I may be biased, but who cares, the montreal forum was simply magical, people used to joke around and say it was haunted because all kinds of bizarre things happened that went in Montreal's favor like the too many men on the ice incident when the Bruins were leading the Habs by a goal with 2 minutes to go and of course the famous Marty McSorley stick incident.

I've never been to square gardens nor chicago stadium boston garden but i can assume they were class. I liked the maple leaf gardens until they decieded to make a mall out of it, they should have put the marlies there. Olympia stadium gets my vote, i really like it.

The Gardens was a great barn to watch a hockey game and yes I admit I voted for it and yes it's the only barn I've been to.
