Phoenix Coyotes 656-279-259-94-24 0.496

So much for the Coyotes being an embarrassment to the Winnipeg Jets legacy.

How about determining the Crosby draft lottery on those standings, with the lower teams getting the greater number of balls in the lottery? :evilgreen

What if we just use that order as the draft order? :hooray2:

Now that people can take a look at those standings they get an insight as to why I'm so cynical about the Canucks. In a market that treats its hockey close to a religion, that record is absolutely shameful.

Also, I should correct an earlier statement. I said the Leafs were top 5 statistically. Obviuosly not, yet still well above the Ottawa Senators.

Ottawa has some lean years to make up for, but they've done a pretty solid job of it, and there's no reason to believe they wont' be putting up a winning record for the next few years still.. they could easily slide past the Leafs in the next few years, espeacilly given the smaller sample.

The list looks slightly different in the 2005 edition of the NHL Record and Guide book. Also, the winning percentages listed in the book are different.

Gordfish, where did you copy that list from?

I used the numbers from the 2002 G & R book, and then manually added the remaining three years, which I gathered from NHL.com. I'm still not sure how to calculate winning percentages of records that include ties, so that is probably where the discrepancies come into play. Other than that, if the actual totals are different, cajun, I don't know what to tell you. I took them from the NHL's own records. I suppose I should have said that the totals only date back to the 1917-18 season.

Well, my only point was that indeed, the totals are not accurate.

Not accurate in what way? And according to who? Perhaps the stat collectors at NHL.com are wrong. I triple checked my calculations. The site is run by Americans, so...

Mayhaps I should pick up a copy of the 2005 G & R.

As for the percentages, if anyone knows how to calculate them while incorporating ties, let me know and I'll adjust them.

I wonder why you include the Seals/Barons totals with San Jose? You don't include the original Senators totals with the current Senators totals, and there's no real connection between the Seals/Barons and Sharks.

As for W%, divide points by GamesX2.
