Default Cheap Kessler Hit!

In case none of you have seen it, here is the cheap shot from Jesse Boulerice against Ryan Kessler.

Boulerice Crosschecks Kesler - Gets 25 Game Suspension

At least Boulerice seemed a bit sorry.

Sweet.Way to go Bowls.

I wonder if Kesler has gotten all the splinters outta his teeth yet?

Boulerice not only got suspended, but was waived by the Flyers today. I wouldnt expect to see him again anytime soon.

"Bowls" is going to have splinters in his butt for a few months at least. He is history!

Just more Philly goonery. They have only been that way since about 1974. Maybe the NHL should adopt a rule that lets you replace only 1/2 of your suspended players as a deterant. Philly would be down one dressed player already for about the next 20 games.

What a joke. "Philly goonery..." <- laughable. Give me a break. Two players are suspended and you're calling it goonery...

So, the next time anyone gets suspended, we'll just say "more (insert team) goonery." The goons of the 70s don't exist in hockey anymore. Wake up.

You ever heard of the "Philly Flu"? The Broad Street Bullies? How about "the Legion of Doom Line"?

Why do you think Lindros received all of those head shots that ended his career early? It is called payback.

Two players suspended at the start of the season and you don't think anything is wrong? You need to deal in reality for a while and get out of the Denial River!

I'll call what Boulerice did goonery, but not Downie. I'll also disagree about the Legion of Doom. They weren't goons...they were big, physical forwards who would hit hard anywhere on the ice and they scored a lot of goals. Legion of Doom does not mean goonery.

Lindros had those hits because he skated with his head down. It's not payback. What did he do to Scott Stevens before Stevens leveled him with the big one?

To be fair, its two players given 2 of the longest suspensions in league history.

I can understand that, but they were unrelated events, and when was the last time something even closely comparable happened involving a Flyers' player? Completely coincidental that it was two Flyers in a matter of a few weeks. Calling it "more Flyers goonery" makes it sound like this is an ongoing issue with this team. The problem with saying it's Flyers goonery is that Boulerice has been with how many teams and done stuff like this with all of them? Why not call it Boulerice goonery rather than associate it with/blaming the organization for his behavior.

Amen!
And if Philly really does want revenge over the Lidros hit, they need to be put somewhere far away from society, because I agree with JKratzer that it was Lindros's fault for skating w/ his damn head down. As for Boulerice, I don't think there's any way else to explain his hit other than, well..."Goonery". I mean, he checked Boulerice in neck!
Downie's hit I think was just mindless. If you ask me, i don't really think he intended hit as hard as he did. Regardless, it was retarded.

What I am saying is that John Stevens needs to get control over his team. This type of stupidity shouldn't be coming from one single team so early in the season.
Although I don't agree with Adsfan about "payback" for the Lindros hit, I think he raises a good point saying that somethng IS wrong if Philly is able to hand out so many whoopings.
Also, I lose respect for management of a team who can basically just throw you away like garbage if you DO make some hits that was result in injury. Especially since it was probably the coaching that caused all of this. What are the chances that two players have already caused two major injuries, and the coaching did not do anything to start that? Either way it starts with the coaching. On one side, maybe the coach encouraged such hits, and on the other side, if it truly just is the players fault, Stevens NEEDS to real that s*#t in!
