Default Replacement blade on a broken one piece stick

I have a broken Bauer Vapour XX one piece stick that had the blade broke off. Someone told me that I can buy those blades and use it as like a two-piece stick. But I went to the shop and pick up those blades...they don't fit! It seems like the shaft is too small for the replacement blade.

Any ideas?

You most likely need a tapered blade. They're smaller than a regular Bauer shaft blade.

I had a Vapor XXX break on me & I got an Easton Synergy II blade to fit in there.
It has to be a tapered blade.

Also, some sticks are more tapered or thicker at the kick zone & you'll have to cut it further up, where it's not as thick. Hopefully, that's not the case & I don't think it is with the Vapor XX...

I work in a pro-shop & deal with a lot of broken blades.

Hopefully, this helps.

or you could flip the shaft over and stick the blade in the top of it, but doing so causes the flex to be all in your hands.

Tapered carbon blades are expensive. You can almost buy another one piece stick for the same price. I suggest picking up a wooden blade for tapered shafts. They're the same price as regular wooden blades. If you like woodwork and cant' find a tapered blade, pick up a regular wood blade and start modifying...(1"x.5" hosel). Any thinner you may end up breaking the blade.

I did it to mine and works great, not much of a difference.

i have an easton synergy 1 piece composite stick, and the blade is really going. How do i change the blade? do you have to saw off the old 1 first? Do sports shops do this kind of work?

Thanks

You cant really "change" the blade out. You just cut the shaft and hope you get lucky. Cut clost to the blade and work your way up. The biggest issue is you lose a lot of length off the shaft and usually have to put in a long butt end. It ruins the flex of the shaft.

You can try your LHS, but they might stray away due to the fact that you can ruin your shaft all together.

I measured 5 inches from the base of the heel and cut. If you find foam and other junk, measure another inch and cut.

I did this last November with my Synergy one piece and works well, better than a 1 piece, IMHO.

You can get a tapered wood blade off the rack, if you're lucky. Other option is modifying a wood blade to fit unless you feel like spending about $100 for a carbon graphite tapered blade.

How do you glue the blade to the shaft? Do I have to heat and melt anything? Is there any sites that show how to do these kind of things?

Thanks!

have you ever watched anyone change a blade? If not its very simple. They sell glue sticks for this sort of thing you can visit you local hockey shop to pick one up or I just use a glue stick from a hot glue gun. Any way you heat up the shaft (at the bottom were the blade is going in) you also melt the glue and place it on the hostel you then insert the blade into the shaft and push them together it may require a little force / banging on the floor and more heat. If you don't know what your doing which it seems like you don't i would use a heat gun, but it can be done over an open flame. I use the stove top. If you buy a blade from a local shop and bring the shaft with you they should offer to put it in for you. Hope this helps

Yeah, what Graf said. You can get sticks of hot melt glue almost anywhere... Home Depot, arts and craft store, Wal Mart...

You should try it yourself, just don't heat it up too long, or part of the shaft will pop forming a bubble. I use a heat gun, blow dryer takes longer and not as effecient.

Apply heat evenly on all 4 sides of the hosel (blade to shaft end). It'd also help if the shaft (lower end) is warm so it'd stick properly. Once all in, leave the stick standing with blade on the ground and let the glue set for a bit.
