Panthers coach and General Manager Jacques Martin went to the Memorial Cup in Vancouver last month to get an up-close look at Kenndal McArdle, the team’s first-round pick in 2005. What he saw may have led to Florida taking Czech native Michal Repik in the second round of the NHL entry draft Saturday morning.
Repik not only led the Western Hockey League in playoff scoring with 10 goals and 26 points, but scored the winning goal in the championship game with less than five minutes left. He’s a quick, shifty skater with the ability to elude checks and finish scoring chances.
