(Sports Network) - The Florida Panthers continue their quest for the playoffs tonight, when they visit the Philadelphia Flyers at the Wachovia Center.
Florida is seven points behind Carolina for the eighth and final postseason berth in the Eastern Conference, but would first have to get past Toronto, Montreal and the Islanders to bust into the top eight seeds.
The Panthers and Boston are tied with 73 points, while the Leafs, Canadiens and Isles have 78 points apiece.
Florida earned an important victory over the Islanders on Saturday, an 8-5 triumph at BankAtlantic Center. Olli Jokinen scored two goals and added three assists to lead the Panthers to the wild win.
Ville Peltonen netted two goals and picked up two helpers for the Panthers, who ended a two-game slide.
Ed Belfour set a franchise record for Florida by making his 23rd consecutive start, and allowed five goals on 33 shots in the victory.
Florida is just 9-18-9 as the visiting club this season and has dropped four of its last six road tests.
The Flyers, owners of the lowest point total in the NHL this year, have dropped three of their last four contests. Philly was last in action Saturday at Ottawa's Scotiabank Place and was handed a 3-2 setback by the Senators. Mike Comrie notched a goal and an assist to lead Ottawa.
